To kick off the new year, EK was proud to provide lighting solutions for eleven major New Year’s Eve television productions across China.
EK’s lights featured prominently in both traditional network specials and digital platform events, with the highest-profile implementation occurring at “Setting Sail 2025 – CCTV New Year’s Eve Gala” (启航2025—中央广播电视总台跨年晚会), framed the majestic Mount Tai (泰山) and Tianping Lake (天平湖畔). Kx→100+ LED profile moving heads, TERMINATOR fixtures, and COLOR RANGER Q48 wash lights were used to create what producers described as an immersive “romantic, starry world”, blending technology with artistic expression.
Mango TV’s production (湖南卫视芒果TV) was also notable for incorporating virtual reality elements, with 6,000 light fixtures and 12 mirror balls being used to create an interactive environment. The broadcast employed TERMINATOR fixtures and POWER PIXEL Q50 outdoor strip lights to establish a futuristic cityscape aesthetic, adorned with three dimensional city skyscrapers. Dragon TV (东方卫视) also integrated AI technology with EK lights to create a Shanghai-style light show with multi-dimensional effects.
Several productions embraced traditional Chinese cultural themes while utilizing advanced lighting technology. Beijing TV’s (北京卫视) folk music-themed broadcast used R2 beam wash fixtures alongside ALLIGATOR moving heads to bridge traditional and contemporary visual elements. Similarly, Sichuan TV (四川卫视) combined naked-eye 3D technology with TERMINATOR fixtures to showcase national cultural traditions and oriental aesthetics in their “Flowers Blooming All Over the World” (花开天下) concert.
Digital platforms also featured significant EK technology implementations. Bilibili—the most popular video sharing platform among Chinese young generation— incorporated virtual reality elements into their “Most Beautiful Night Gala”, most notably a custom “Black Myth: Wukong” (黑神话悟空) stage environment utilizing DIAMONDBACK fixtures. In another example, popular video streaming platform Douyin (TikTok) created an immersive 3D experience using COLLIDER FC strobe fixtures within a cube-shaped LED environment.
The company’s COLLIDER BAR IP LED strobe bars were the most widely used product across all productions, appearing in nine of the eleven broadcasts across Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Chengdu, and many more state channels. As millions of viewers across China welcomed 2025, EK’s lighting technology played an essential role in creating the shared visual experiences that brought communities together, illuminating not just stages but also the collective hope for a bright and prosperous new year ahead.
